October 17 falls right in the heart of Salem’s Haunted Happenings season, when the city is filled with Halloween activities, street performers, vendors, costumes, tours and special events.
And there are some particularly fun things scheduled for the day of our visit!
🧙 Witch Hats on the Wharf
2026 marks Salem’s 400th anniversary, and they’re celebrating in a very Salem way!
Visitors are being invited to gather at Derby Wharf wearing witch hats for a giant aerial photograph and an attempt at a world record gathering of people wearing witch hats!
Bring your witchiest hat and we’ll take a big group picture together! 🧙♀️
🎃 Kids’ Fun Fest
10:00 AM–5:00 PM • Salem Common
Traveling with kids — or just young at heart?
Salem Common will host seasonal family activities and entertainment throughout the day.
👻 The Making of a Witch
Special performances are scheduled during the afternoon telling the story of Philip English, a wealthy Salem merchant accused during the Salem Witch Trials.
🌙 Salem Night Faire
5:00–10:00 PM • Salem 1630: Pioneer Village
THIS is one of the reasons we’re staying later!
As darkness falls, Salem’s Pioneer Village transforms for the Salem Night Faire — an atmospheric evening filled with artists, unusual vendors, performances, ghost stories, food, hot cider and more.
Our approximately 7:00 PM departure means you’ll have the opportunity to experience part of Salem after dark rather than having to leave just when the nighttime festivities begin!
Some Haunted Happenings events and attractions require separate admission or advance reservations and are not included with your Fun 4 All Tours ticket.

Your Fun 4 All Tours ticket is designed to give you transportation and the freedom to build your own Salem adventure.
Admission to museums, walking tours, haunted attractions, the Night Faire and other ticketed experiences is not included unless specifically stated.
October Saturdays in Salem are EXTREMELY popular, so if there’s a particular museum, tour, restaurant or attraction you absolutely want to experience, advance reservations are strongly recommended whenever available.
We’ll send our travelers a guide before the trip with ideas, links and suggestions to help you plan your day.
Or don’t plan much at all and just explore!
🚗 Why Take the Bus to Salem in October?
If you’ve ever considered driving into Salem on an October Saturday… you probably already know the answer. 😂
Traffic is TERRIBLE. Parking is EXTREMELY difficult and pricey. Streets are closed off after 5 so you have to park FAR away.
And after spending an entire day walking around Salem, the last thing most people want to do is fight traffic all the way home.
